This past Friday, the school term officially ended. It was an interesting, frustrating, and sometimes quite amusing term, and I’m glad I got a chance to have an impact on my students and watch them open up. In one class, a handful of students inundated me with candy; however, most of the students were so ready to leave that there weren’t any tear-filled goodbyes to speak of. It seemed to all happen rather abruptly.
While looking back, I remembered some amusing things that some of my students have said in class.
1) “I like the park because it is clean and I can play with my friends, but the zoo smells like poo poo.” (when answering whether they like going to the park or the zoo more.)
2) “I like chicken women,” followed by laughter from the class as they reminded him that the answer is “chicken wings.” (when answering what they like more, meat or vegetables, etc.)
3) Walking past my class after it finished and hearing a kid in the storage room singing, “We will, we will, rock you.”
4) “Happy Halloween!” (one of my students is trying to wish me a happy holiday).
I tried taking some photos with my favorite class, and most students were happy to pose, but there were still maybe 6 or 7 students who were just not feeling it. Anyway, this is how the term ended…
I hope that when I start next term at the international school, I will enjoy the experience.
