Finally! The kids perform on their “Guzheng.”

I have waited about 2.5 years to finally get some footage of kids practicing on their beautiful-sounding “guzheng,” which is a Chinese zither that goes back some 2500+ years in China. I sometimes walk past this music classroom on my way back to my teacher’s dorm, and I’ve always hoped to be able to take a photo or get some video of them practicing. I finally got it. I really wanted to capture something like this because now that China has been developing so much economically, a lot of emphasis has been on consumerism, and it’s not always easy to get a glimpse into the authentic Chinese experience. This really shows an authentic cultural tradition that is still alive, and it’s refreshing to see.

  1. Hi Greg,

Are you ok ? I heard and read about the landslide in SW China. Sad and devastating. I don’t know your exact location but I hope far from there. 😢

Sorry about the delay in replying but Spring finally came after months of rain, and I got busy.

I love this post as I love music.
I have heard it before played by adults. Are you on vacation now?

    Be safe. RSVP soon.

    Peace, Kay
