This past week, our Grade 4 students had a field trip to a place called “Window of the World” in Shenzhen. There is a place where one can see replicas of famous buildings and sites around the world. I think I saw all of the exhibits, but I didn’t take an up-close look at the US site replicas, mainly because I’d already seen the real places. I also noticed that the NYC skyline had clearly not been updated (aka, still showing the Twin Towers instead of the newer Freedom Tower).
Anyway, if you don’t think you’ll ever get a chance to see these sites in person, then I suggest you check out these images. Perhaps it might inspire you to go and see them.
- A palace in Japan
- Angkor Wat
- In Nepal
- Part of a Japanese inspired garden.
- No field trip should be complete without a big swing.
- The Taj Mahal
- Italy
- A little boat excersion
- Windmills of The Netherlands
- A castle in Spain
- A quick choo choo ride
- A rather large shoe lawn ornament.
- A look inside the train tunnel
- This student was collecting some fresh rainwater. If you look closely at his hat, you’ll notice the marijuana leaf on it. I find this quite ironic since we were told in a meeting last month that drug use is seen on one of the highest kinds of crime here (and can be punishable by death).
- The Sphnix and pyramids in Egypt.
- Warning: Graphic Nudity!
- Apparently the Jewish star was the inspiration for this oven set up?
- The entrance into the “spooky” (and extremely cheesey) Egyptian hall of terror.
- Interesting to end the attraction with this unrelated friendly robot image.
- The mini-Niagara Falls
- The entrance to a “roller coaster” ride. The ride just barely met the minimal requirements to be considered a roller coaster.
- The Colosseum in Rome.
- The Eifel Tower and Arc De Triumph
- I saw this in a gift shop. I don’t know the origins of these toys but I couldn’t help but notice the blatant racist overtones here.
