Even though there are two more weeks left in the fall term here, the school put on its annual end-of-year performance, which featured both teachers and students. I didn’t record all of it (because my camera battery would have never made it through that long, and some of the performances were honestly just slow and not that interesting). These are the two videos that I did get.
The first is the opening performance, featuring Chinese teachers and students. The teachers sang, and the boys and girls did different dance routines. The singing was OK, I guess, considering that I’m pretty sure the Chinese teachers were just randomly told that they must perform in these things without asking if they wanted to. Of course, the Chinese way is to simply follow the orders of your superiors, regardless of how you feel about them. But perhaps some of them volunteered, too.
The other part I got was when one of my students, the now-infamous “Justin,” was singing a song in English while his mom, dad, and brother were with him on stage, performing as dancing trees. It was really cute and sweet to see them all working together. I did get some shots of him after a rehearsal one day. One of my co-workers commented that he looked like a mini-Bruno Mars. What do you think?
